MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT AND INVOLVEMENT
Will have a Health, Safety and Environmental Commitment Statement that
clearly outlines your company's commitment to safety and environmental
protection. This statement will be posted and communicated to all employees,
contractors and visitors.
Will outline the specific responsibilities of management, employees, and
subcontractors in implementation of your safety program using worksite
policies, resources, safety meetings, walk around safety and environmental
checks, and other forms of communication.
COMMUNICATIONS AND GROUP MEETINGS
Will suggest scheduled safety meetings, a standard that outlines who is
responsible for conducting the meetings, recording the minutes and setting
the schedule.
RULES AND WORK PRACTICES
Will have work practices written and included to control the most common
hazards.
Will have a Safe Work Agreement, form and practice included.
Will include General Safety Rules.
Will have a Personal Protective Equipment policy and rules regarding the
use of proper clothing.
Will have worksite rules regarding the consumption of alcohol and drugs,
both on and prior to entering the work site.
Will have a disciplinary program in place to deter employees who do not
comply with safety rules and government regulations.
Will have a work practices on Material Safety Data Sheets for the controlled
products used in your workplace.
Includes the Transportation of Dangerous Goods practice and practice for
Handling of Hazardous Materials in the work place.
Will have a written standard for purchasing material and renting equipment.
Will have a complete section on the Emergency Action Plan related to your
activities.
HAZARD ASSESSMENT AND CONTROL
Will have a list of hazards to cover all types of work relevant to a specific
job site and their effective control.
Will outline the requirement for supervisors and employees to conduct regular
worksite inspection of equipment and conditions. The program includes what
is to be inspected, worksite inspection guide, facility inspection sheets
and inspection follow up procedures.
Will encourage employees on hazard identification to submit reports of
hazardous conditions on the work site, that may be missed by regular inspections,
using the Hazardous Condition Report form.
INCIDENT/ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
AND ANALYSIS
Will have a written standard procedure for incident/accident reporting
and accident investigation.
Will have a procedure for reviewing and following up on all incident/accident
reports.
Will have forms to regularly review and report historical data relating
to all incident/accident statistics.
TRAINING AND MOTIVATION
Includes a Training and Orientation section to be communicated to each
new or transferred employee. The employee orientation explains company
expectations and commitment to safety.
Will have a employee safety recognition program.
